You’ve got just seven seconds to make a positive first impression. Take a look at your imagery and tell me, what impression are you making?
7 seconds. Can you believe it!? Whether you think you’re making an impression, formulating a decision, evoking an emotion, or not! Fact is, you are. This impression effects the decisions you then choose to make.
- “Yep, I’ll buy that!”
- “Yes, I’ll eat that!”
- “Oh, I want to do that!”
- “I really like her.”
- “Oh, that makes me feel a little uncomfortable!”
- “No, that’s not for me.”
- “Yes, I’d like to know more.”
Out of the above examples, what do you want people to think and feel when they come across your business and your brand? What do you want people to think and feel when they meet you? It’s questions like this that are super important to consider when you’re in business and when you want to upgrade your brand.
Two questions I always ask when planning and preparing for a photo shoot are:
1. What’s your message?
2. How do you want your ideal client to feel?
This is the power of visual imagery. Photographs evoke emotions, they express a story. They help share who you are, without saying a word. They have a powerful way of creating a connection and they can do this really quickly. They have the power to answer these two questions.
Imagine you had images that evoked the key emotions you want your clients to feel and that expressed your message, all in the first glimpse of your website.
